My Investment Portfolio (November 2013)
STI closed down to 3176 points by the end of November 2013. It was a lacklustre month for the S'pore market despite Dow hitting new highs. Low volume and lack of direction had been the characteristics of the local market this month. The Thai demonstration towards the end of the month had further dampened interest in the market.
For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - Southern Packaging, Jason Marine, F&N, Sunright, Sinopipe, Vicplas, Khong Guan, Mermaid, CSE Global, Xpress and TTJ.
For my top 30 holdings, except for Old Chang Kee, no major movements as it had been a quiet month in terms of corporate actions and news flow.
I have bought the following companies from the market this month - Azeus, BBR Holdings, Chemical Industries, Chip Eng Seng, ComfortDelgro, Dutech, Eastern Holdings, GK Goh, Hanwell, Haw Par, Hwa Hong, Isetan, KSH, Lantrovision, LC Developments, LHT, Lian Beng, NSL, Penguin, PM Data, PNE Industries, SBS Transit, Southern Packaging, Stamford Land, Teck Wah, Union Steel and UOB Kay Hian. There is no sale done this month.
I have accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offers this month - Synear, ConscienceFood, People's Food and Pertama. I have also participated in the following scrip dividend schemes - Aspial, TEE International and United Overseas Australia.
I have subscribed to the following rights issues - CapitaRChina and GRP. I have also converted the following warrants to shares - Ntegrator.
December 2013 is expected to be another quiet month for me, except for a few EGMs and AGMs. I will reflect on this year in a nutshell and also derive my investment strategy for 2014. Hope to share with all of you out there soon.

Hi ghchua,
Good morning! I am still in the process of recording all these years' my stock investments and have them filed properly for future reference and rebalancing of my portfolio.
It was quite a tedious and tiring task but absolutely rewarding as I have concrete records that show all the detailed information of the shareholdings I invested.
As the year is coming to a close, I just want to THANK YOU and most of all, I hope to continue to learn from you. I would also like to wish you and your loved ones:
A blessed CHRISTMAS and a bountiful blessings in the coming NEW YEAR 2014.
Hi Everlearning,
Hope that you had made good investment returns in 2013. All the best to you in 2014! Oh yes, a Merry Christmas and Happy 2014 to you too!
Hi ghchua, you have bought Hwa Hong in this month. Appreaciate if u can advise what you see in Hwa Hong that is worth buying. Thx.
Hi Khoo Yew,
Hwa Hong is an old and boring company. But if you follow their track record, they have been unlocking value for shareholders throughout the years and paid good dividends when they divest assets. Examples include their warehouses and general insurance arm.
Currently, it is a smaller company due to their recent divestments. However, they are slowly rebuilding their revenue through the following initiatives:
1. Transformation and redevelopment of 110 Paya Lebar warehouse. That will fetch higher rental revenue from this FY onwards.
2. Renovate and upgrate their residential units in UK. All their commercial and residential properties in UK are freehold.
3. Explore JVs.
Most of their revenue currently are from rental and dividends from their investment securities, which include stakes in listed companies like MTQ, Sp Re etc.
Sounds boring? I guess it is. The market doesn't seem to like it as it is now more like a holding company. However, given time, I believe that long term shareholders will be rewarded.
Thx ghchua.
