SHS HOLDINGS W191216

For those holding the above company warrant, maybe it is time to consider converting them to shares. The record date for their upcoming dividend entitlement is as follows:

SHS HOLDINGS LTD. - 12 May 2016, 5pm. Final dividend 0.32cts per share, Special dividend 3.68cts per share.

Though the warrant expires on 16 DEC 2019, there seem to be no time value in it as it currently trades at around 7.6cts, with an exercise price of 20cts. Adding the exercise price to its current market price, it is still a bit lower than the current mother share market price.

The main reason I guess is because the warrant is currently deeply in the money, the time value of the warrant is almost zero. Which means, the intrinsic value of the warrant is simply market value of the warrant + exercise price.

For long term investors of SHS Holdings, I guess it is time to convert to lock in the dividends.

WEE HUR HOLDINGS LTD W121027

For those holding the above company warrant, maybe it is time to consider converting them to shares. The record date for their upcoming dividend entitlement is as follows:

WEE HUR HOLDINGS LTD. - 3 Sep 2010, 5pm. Interim dividend 1cts per share

Though the warrant expires on 27 OCT 2012, there seem to be no time value in it as it currently trades at around 30cts below the mother shares, which is almost the same as its exercise price (i.e. 30cts).

The main reason I guess is because the warrant is currently deeply in the money, the time value of the warrant is almost zero. Which means, the intrinsic value of the warrant is simply market value of the warrant + exercise price.

For long term investors of Wee Hur, I guess it is time to convert.

METRO HOLDINGS LIMITED W110922 and KSH HOLDINGS LIMITED W120402

The above two companies will be giving out dividend soon and therefore I will be exercising their warrants and convert them to shares before record date in order to be entitled to their dividend payout. Their record date for dividend entitlement are as follows:

1. METRO HOLDINGS LIMITED - 2 Aug 2010, 5pm. Final dividend 2cts per share, Special dividend 1cts per share.
2. KSH HOLDINGS LIMITED - 17 Aug 2010, 5pm. Final dividend 1cts per share.

Warrant exercise form must reach the warrant agent before 5pm on the record date to be entitled to the dividend payout. Therefore, do remember to act early for those who wish to exercise their warrants. If you want to send by post, you would have to send in the completed warrant exercise form (with cashier's order attached of course) latest on the day before record date in order reach them on the record date itself. Otherwise, you will have to visit the warrant agent on the record date personally in order to lodge your warrant exercise form on time to be entitled to the dividend payout.

VIZ BRANZ LIMITED W110630

For those who are holding this warrant, it might be a good time to convert them to shares. It seems to me that the company is now declaring dividends four times a year, having declared one special dividend of 0.75cts per share in January this year and an interim dividend of 1cts per share in March this year, it is declaring another special interim dividend of 0.75cts to be paid in May.

Although there is still one year from expiry for this warrant, it suffers from low liquidity mainly due to the fact that a lot of shareholders had been coverting the warrants to shares, making it very difficult to trade at a premium although it still has around one year in time value.

I will be converting this one to shares soon, hopefully in time to be entitled to the special interim dividend that had been declared.

LEE METAL GROUP W100910

I will be converting Lee Metal Group warrants around 4.5 months before expiry. Normally, I don't like to convert warrants way before expiry as I will lose time value for the warrant in question. But for this case, I will be paying 5cts per share to convert each warrant to share and getting back 2cts dividend in May. I guess it is worthwhile converting since I will be getting back 40% of my investment within one month.

I guess most of the other Lee Metal Group warrant holders will agree with me that the above is a good deal.

Transpac Industrial Holdings Warrants

Normally, I don't exercise company warrants way before expiry date since it makes no sense to do so, as one would be losing the time value (if any) of the warrant and also locking in the money into a stock when there might be better investment opportunities. Since company warrants (American style ones) allows one to have the option to buy the underlying share at exercise price on or before expiry, one can hold onto it while still be able to participate in the company's share price appreciation.

But Transpac Industrial Holdings (i.e. TIH) warrants gives me something to think about. The company had declared a interim dividend of 40cts per share, which means I will lose out on this big dividend payout if I don't exercise those TIH warrants that I am currently holding in my portfolio. There had been no news from the company about adjusting the warrant exercise price to reflect the big dividend payout, therefore I assume that there will be no change in the warrant exercise price or warrant conversion ratio.

Such a big dividend payout meant that by exercising the warrants, I am paying $1 per share and getting back 40cts per share within a month.

With the above thoughts in mind, I have decided to exercise my TIH warrants way before expiry and convert them to shares before ex-dividend date.
