My Investment Portfolio (July 2014)
STI ended this month up more than 100 points to 3374. There had been some buying interest in index stocks this month as companies with financial year ending 31 December 2014 will be announcing their half year results this month and in August. Investors might be buying some index heavyweights like banks and property stocks in anticipation of good results.
For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - SingPost, Azeus, Ascendas India Trust, Grand Banks, MapleTree Logistics Trust, MapleTree Industrial Trust, Valuetronics, Pteris Global, Bukit Sembawang, Pollux, IndiaBulls Properties, Stamford Land, CitySpring and AIMS AMP Industrial REIT.
For my top 30 holdings, PNE Industries is a new entry to the list due to its excellent share price performance this month. However, MTQ Corp disappointed after announcing 1Q results that is below market expectation. Hong Leong Finance and Singapura Finance moved up in the list as I added more into these two stocks. I have started to position my portfolio more defensively as STI hits a new 14 month high by the end of this month.
I have bought the following companies from the market this month - Forterra Trust, GK Goh, Hong Leong Finance, Isetan, Jardine Strategic, Keppel T&T, OCBC, Popular, Sakae, Shangri-La Asia, Singapore Reinsurance, Singapura Finance, Straits Trading and Venture. I have also closed my position in China XLX after they announced their decision to delist from SGX.
I have participated in the following scrip dividend scheme this month - Noble Group. I have also converted the following company warrants to shares - Asiatravel.com.
I have accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offer this month - Gems TV.
August will be quiet month for me. Companies with financial year ending 31 December 2014 will be announcing their half-year results. I will be going through some of these results but not in great details. I will also seek to re-invest some of those dividends that will be payable for companies holding their AGMs in July.

GHChua, need your opinion on the company MIDAS (5EN) on the STI. it just release its second quarter result today and i know you may not have this share in your portfolio. but would appreciate if you can agree on the good standing of this company.
please assist. thanks.
Hi foolcj,
I only have a small stake in MIDAS and I don't like their high borrowings. Also, their profit had been quite inconsistent throughout the years, though the potential of the stock looks good.
Basically, they did not live up to their high growth potential for many years.
