My Investment Portfolio (January 2018)

STI ended the first month of 2018 at around 3533 points, as markets started the year with a bang. However, there seems to be some selloff near the end of the month as most markets continue to record new highs. I will be positioning my portfolio more defensively going forward since the risk of a major correction is now very much higher than last year.

For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefing - Frasers Commercial Trust, Frasers Centrepoint Trust, Chew's Group, Frasers Centrepoint Limited and Casa Holdings.

For my top 30 holdings, Tat Seng maintained its decent performance as it continued to move up the list before its full year result announcement next month. Other big movers include Venture, SGX and CapitaLand. Old Chang Kee and Isetan were some of the laggards in the list.

I have bought the following companies from the market this month - Boustead, Bund Center, Cheung Woh, Global Investments, Global Testing, GRP, Ho Bee Land, Hong Leong Finance, IFS Capital, IPC Corp, Isetan, Kingsmen, LTC Corp, Lum Chang, M1, Metro, Pacific Century, SIA Engineering, Sinarmas Land, SingPost, Singapore Reinsurance, SingTel, ST Engineering, Straits Trading, UIC, VICOM and Yeo Hiap Seng. I have also closed my positions in AusGroup, C&G Environment, Charisma Energy (shares and warrants), China Mining, CWX Global, Hyflux, Imperium Crown, ISR Capital, Koh Eco (warrants) and Pan United.

I have also accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offer this month - Rotary Engineering. My stake in Global Logistics Properties was also being acquired via scheme of arrangement.

Next month will be a busy one for me as many companies with financial year ending 31 December 2016 will be announcing their full year results. I will be allocating sometime to look closely at some of these result releases. The process to prune down the number of stocks in my portfolio will continue as well. I will also be looking to re-invest the remaining proceeds from Global Logistics Properties privatisation as well as dividends to be received from my REIT holdings near the end of next month.

Hi Ghchua,

I note that there is voluntary unconditional offer for TIH Limited. I believe that you would have this counter.

What is your view on this offer?

Thks.
