My Investment Portfolio (December 2006)
Dear readers,
It had been an eventful year for me in my DIY stock investment. Though STI might not break 3,000 points come end of the year, I am confident that my portfolio will continue to grow. This year, I had subscribed to a few rights issues and they had been fruitful. It allows me to increase my stake in some of these good companies who seek to exhaust their tax credit via rights issues. I didn't subscribe to any IPOs this year though, as I prefer to rely on my stock picking skill to buy from the open market instead.
Biggest winners this year in my portfolio? Most of the property and construction stocks. Education stocks too. My biggest winner this year has to be Hartford Education. It came from nowhere but now it is one of my core holdings. Will it be my next Raffles Education? Well, let's wait and see.
Biggest losers? Technology and plastic counters. Sunningdale and Meiban dropped out of my top 30 holdings.
Next year, my main strategy will be to continue to subscribe to rights issues. With end of 2007 deadline for tax credits coming, more companies will be doing these rights issues to exhaust their tax credits before the deadline. I will keep a lookout for these issues.
I had a great fun managing my stock investment portfolio this year. I hope that you will find DIY stock investing fun and enjoyable too. Thank you for visiting my blog this year and may your investments bear fruit in many more years to come.
So here it is, my last portfolio update for 2006. Enjoy!
