My Investment Portfolio (December 2008)

I have done my "Christmas shopping" already this month. The proceeds from the reverse takeover of Eng Wah Organization by Transcu Group came in handy for my shopping spree this month. I have added mostly blue chip stocks in my portfolio this month as I have always been underweighting them in my portfolio due to valuation ground. But with the recent market downturn, it is a good chance for me to buy blue chip stocks cheaply.

OCBC Bank is a new entry in my top 30 list this month, while SingTel and ST Engineering moved up the list as I began to re-balance my portfolio by adding some blue chip names. DBS Bank have also announced a rights issue. I will be subscribing to the rights issue during next month.

I have also accepted the delisting offer from SP Chemical. But the proceeds from the offer will only come in during February, since the delisting offer needs to be approved by shareholders.

Looking ahead, markets might not recover so soon. 2009 will also be a tough year for investors. But armed with an investment plan, patience and consistently investing into the market with spare cash every month, I believe that I will be rewarded in the long run.

I end this post my wishing all my loyal readers a profitable and happy 2009!
