My Investment Portfolio (October 2012)

October 2012 is another quiet month as there is not much news in the markets. Investors might be waiting on the sidelines for the result of US Presidential election. Quite a few companies had reported their 3Q 2012 results. STI finished above 3000 points.

For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - Broadway, China Paper, Transpac, Grand Banks, CH Offshore, MIT, Guocoland, GuocoLeisure, K1 Ventures, Saizen REIT, Karin, LMA, Koon, Lantrovision, Sin Ghee Huat, Cerebos Pacific, Singapura Finance, FJ Benjamin, HMI, Elite KSB, Micro Mechanics, Tai Sin, Eu Yan Sang, Lum Chang and Lion AsiaPac.

For my top 30 holdings, Superbowl Holdings is a new entry due to its share price appreciation. OSIM International is another big mover in my top 30 list as the market likes its 3Q 2012 results released this month.

I have bought the following companies from the market this month - BBR Holdings, Far East H Trust, Far East Orchard, Freight Links, GKE Corp, Hong Fok, Keppel T&T, PNE Industries, Singapore Land, SBS Transit, STX OSV, VGO and WBL Corp. I have also done one sell trade this month - LionGold Corp.

I have accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offers - Cerebos Pacific and Juken Technology. I have also subscribed to the following rights issues - Lantrovision and Raffles Education.

I have participated in the following scrip dividend schemes - DBS, Freight Links, Jardine Strategic and Swing Media.

After a hectic month of AGMs in October, I will spend some time to think about my portfolio in November as there are not many meetings to attend. I will also reserve some cash from the proceeds of Cerebos Pacific delisting for Sing Investments and Koon Holdings rights issues subscription.

Hi, i just started reading up on your blog when i was googling some of my investment holdings when i noticed that we may share a similar investment philosophy..which is value investing...

i just started investing about 2 yrs ago, hence im not holding too many stocks..however, out of the very few stocks i hold, guthrie gts and far east orchard are stocks that you have in your portfolio too..

i was just wondering, would you happen to have a target price for stocks in your portfolio? if not, when then do you decide if its time to exit the positions..

do keep on writing! appreciate it lots that there is someone who has a similar passion for value investing

Hi david,

Thank you for visiting my blog.

I manage my stocks based on a portfolio approach. Which means, I don't really have a target price for my stock to sell. What I am doing is really as long as the portfolio on a whole is not overvalued, there is no need to sell anything in my portfolio.

However, I do sell stocks if I observed something is not right and it might not be that the company is overvalued. Factors like lousy management, poor execution, massive dilution due to additional shares issued etc. However, I always make it a point to at least meet the management first before deciding whether to exit my position. Otherwise, I will just reduce my exposure to the stock and not sell all my holdings.
