My Investment Portfolio (August 2014)
STI ended this month down to close at 3327 points. It had been another quiet month with worries on geopolitical issues taking the centre stage. Some of them had been mentioned by me during my previous monthly posts and therefore I shall not repeat here. There are also not much surprises from companies with financial year ending June 2014 when they reported their results during the month.
For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - Goodpack, Longcheer, Tianjin Zhong Xin Pharmaceutical Group and Ezra.
For my top 30 holdings, United Engineers was in the news as there were talks of it being a takeover target and also their intention to sell their automotive business. It didn't move up in my portfolio as it had lagged behind my top holding for quite sometime. However, these good news does close the gap between my top holding and United Engineers. OSIM International was also in the spotlight but the market doesn't like its proposed convertible bond issue. I have continued adding onto Singapura Finance as I was encouraged by their decent full year results. Not much changes were observed in my other top holdings, as AusNet Services (formerly known as SP AusNet) returned to the list due to share price appreciation.
I have bought the following companies from the market this month - AP Oil, Amara, Forterra Trust, Hor Kew, IFS Capital, Jardine Strategic, Keppel T&T, Multi-Chem, OUE, Pollux, Popular, Singapore Reinsurance, Singapura Finance, Stamford Land and Straits Trading. There is no sale done this month.
I have participated in the following scrip dividend schemes this month - Frasers Commercial Trust and MapleTree Logistics Trust. I have also participated in the following rights issues - OLS and Mun Siong.
I have accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offer this month - Surface Mount Technology.
September will be another quiet month for me. I will be holding onto some cash to participate in OCBC rights issue. I will continue to position my portfolio more defensively going forward and will selectively add onto undervalued stocks with low volatility.
