My Investment Portfolio (July 2018)
STI ended the month at around 3319 points, up a bit from last month. It had been an extremely volatile month, with trade war and a new set of property cooling measures on Singapore residential properties being in the news. Property stocks were sold down across the board though they somewhat regained some ground towards the end of the month.
For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefing - SingPost, Azeus, Yoma, Vard, Asiatic, Bukit Sembawang Estates, Singapore Shipping, The Hour Glass and GP Industries.
For my top 30 holdings, Wheelock Properties is a new entry in the list, after its controlling shareholder makes an offer to buyout its minority shareholders. Main movers include Hotel Properties and other stocks with Orchard Road asset exposure which benefited from the Wheelock Properties buyout offer. Elsewhere, the latest cooling measures on residential properties in Singapore had affected many property companies in the list, with UOL and Bukit Sembawang Estates being most hit by the selloff. Venture is another underperformer, with research houses downgrading the stock.
I have bought the following companies from the market this month - AF Global, Amara, Bund Center, CapitaLand, Chuan Hup, EnGro, Far East Orchard, Frasers Property, Global Investments, Guocoland, Hong Leong Finance, Hotel Properties, Isetan, Karin, Keppel T&T, Koh Brothers, Lum Chang, OUE, Plato Capital, Sembcorp Industries, SIA Engineering, Stamford Land, Tan Chong International, UIC, UOB Kay Hian, Wheelock and Wing Tai. I have also closed my positions in China Star Food, Noble and Silkroad Nickel.
I have participated in the following preferential offer/rights issues this month - Hotel Royal and IP Softcom. I have also accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offer this month - Weiye.
Next month will be another result announcement month as companies with financial year ending 31 December 2018 will be announcing their half year results. As usual, I will be looking closely at some of these result announcements. Also, I will seek to reinvest some of the dividends received from companies holding their AGMs in July 2018 and my REITs and Business Trusts holdings.
