My Investment Portfolio (March 2009)
This month had been another volatile month as investors couldn't make up their mind whether the economy had seen the worst or there is further downside. As usual, as a long term investor, I ignore all these noises in the market and continue to hold onto my stocks and build my investment portfolio.
During this month, I have invested my funds into a few small caps and also added more funds into stockbroker UOB Kay Hian. I have also converted my Tee International warrants to shares and subscribed to CapitaLand, CapitaMall Trust, OSIM International, KSH Holdings and Bukit Sembawang Estates rights issues.
I have accepted the takeover offer by SATS for Singapore Food Industries (i.e. SFI). The proceeds from SFI had been re-invested into a few rights issues as mentioned above. I have also accepted the exit offer for unlisted JK Tech Investment in exchange for St James shares and warrants.
S-chip stocks got sold down badly this month as there are bad news all around with corporate scandals, account receiveables/working capital problems etc hitting a few listed S-chips. I remain underweight in S-chips in my portfolio as these high risk stocks are not for the faint-hearted.
After being my top holding for quite sometime, Raffles Education finally failed to hold onto its first position in my portfolio after being sold down this month due to its exposure to troubled S-chip Oriental Century.
Going forward, I will continue to invest prudently, but with limited cash since there will not be much dividend payout to look forward to in April.
